Issue: Error 0x00000709 Operation Could not be Completed on Windows when trying to set your printer as the default printer.

This error is usually caused when you are unable to setup your new printer or a different printer as your default printer other than then one that is already setup as default. This is caused by a glitch in the registry settings. Kindly follow below step to resolved the issue.

STEP 1 - In order to go to Registry, first go to search, type Regedit, select Run as administrator on right pane under Registry Editor.

STEP 2 - Navigate through the folders, or keys, as follows:

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Windows" 

STEP 3 - Double click Device key to modify and change the Value Data. Note: Only change the name of your printer, not the part after it, which in this example if your printer's name that want to set default is KONICA MINOLTA C360iSeriesPCL (TestLab), then this would change to KONICA MINOLTA C360iSeriesPCL (TestLab).winspool.Ne00:

Click OK to save the change.

Note: If you encounter error message Cannot edit Device: Error writing the value's new contents dialog, please follow the steps below to set the permission of the key.

STEP 1 - Return to the Windows key and right click on the Windows key from the left pane, choose the Permissions, and tick the box Allow for Full Control and Read box, press Apply and OK to save the change.
